C058 Cooper T53 Red #17

Did a bit of a cleanup and sorting out of my spares boxes and found 3 tops and 3 bottoms, and was able to match up 2 pairs. Picked this one to start with, as it was the later version with swivel guide. It was a bit of mess with a very bad and thick paint job and several marks and scratches, and no windscreen. Took ages to strip the paint off, as it was acrylic rather than enamel, so oveb cleaner had little effect. End up using brake fluid, but even then had to scrape and sand off the fianl stubborn parts. The body was quite rough underneath all that paint, although some damage could have been from the brake fluid as it needed several long soakings to soften and loosen all the layers of paint. So it was going to need a repaint, so I just got to and sanded the worst of the lumps, bumps and scratches out. It had been painted green, but original color was red and seeing as the other bodies I had were green, decided to stick with red. Found spare running gear, inclduing a strong RX motor, and was able to get it up and running withough to much fuss. Not super fast, but a very nice runner anyway.
