TV Series Batmobile - Scratchbuild using Polar Lights Plastic Model Kit

This TV Series version of the Batmobile has been built using the Polar Lights 1/32 model kit. I did create a bit of a rod for my own back, as I chose the model kit rather than the full slot car kit, because it included the original TV series figures. Has taken a few weeks, as the kit was of a pretty poor quality, in my opinion. It didn't have many parts, and so should have fitted together quite well, but I had to file and sand some of the bigger bits to get a reasonably seamless finish, although it's still not as good as I would like. The decals were also the worst quality and most brittle decals I've ever come across. Admittedly, the pin stripes are long and thin, but still, even the smaller ones tended to crack and split, and did not stay on very well. I had to fill in quite a few gaps with left over bits, and ended up painting in some sections. I also had to butcher the interior quite a bit to fit the chassis flush, but that's only to be expected. And don't get me started on the instructions!! I did have some luck though, in that a spare Cadillac LMP chassis fit under the car perfectly. It obviosuly needed some trmming, and I had to reposition the front lights so they'd shine out through the headlight correctly. The model did not have clear headlights, so I drilled a 4mm hole through the middle of the headlight section, the glued some fine black lace over the hole so it can't be seen until the lights come on. Not the most elegant of jobs, but the end results were quite good.
