I bought a couple of these Strombecker bodies (plus the Cobra Coupe) from a French ebayer, and have just finished off one of each.
This model had no chassis or driver platform, but was able to fit in a cast copy of a another type of Ferrari GTO which was of much the same size.
Added in scalex driver shoulders and a Strombecker head and detailed the interior, then when hunting for a suitable chassis. I had some adjustable PCS 32 chassis,
but these sat the motor up too high to fit. Kept hunting around and found a perfect fit in the shape of a scalex C121 Elf Tyrell chassis. This enabled me to easily fit scalex running gear
around another of the Mabuchi clone motors I have, which has a little more torque but not as much speed as the Mabuchi, and with the axle extending out the opposite end.
Due to chassis design, was able to use a conversion piece a fellow collector crafted (and I moulded) to get it to fit. Looks a little funny from underneath, but its out of sight on the track
and it runs like a dream, with some Cartrix vintage spoked wheels installed to finish it off in vintage style. Also added some exhausts copied from the Strombecker Lotus 30 and finsihed it off with my own decals.
