C055 Vanwall Blue #15

After restoring a few other vintage F1s, decided to give this body a go, after picking it up in a scrapyard lot some time back, then finding a matching chassis in another lot quite recently. The body was in pretty good overall shape, but the chassis had been painted and then prooly stripped. I had no luck removing the last stubborn vestiges of paint with the usual stripper, bit was able to sand or polish off the worst of it, and then polished out as many of the cuts and scratches as I could, as I didn't want to have to paint the entire car, seeing as the body was so good. After the last couple of restores using original pin type guides, decided that there was plenty of room to fit a swivel guide in without interfering with the wheels or body clips. Found a nice strong RX motor and correct wheels, and was able to get it up and running without too much fuss. Turned out to be a great runner, so I'm glad I went to the trouble of converting the guide, as that made a huge difference.
