Ended up with quite a collection of damaged D Types bodies, and finally got around to repairing and rebuilding this first one. The rear arches were badly cut out, so had to borrow a good D Type from my friend Peter, and moulded up the rear guards so I could repair this one with resin. Then repainted the whole car and added my own decals, before adding the appropriate running gear. hasn't got the correct wheels yet (although they look very similar) but I know what I am looking for now, and have ordered some more, and will make my own copies as well (to use as front wheels). Hope to fix up another D Type shortly, but will probably try and fit a Mabuchi motor and standard guide assembly in that one.
