Eldon Ford Mustang - Red #66 - on Avant Slot 180 chassis

I picked this Eldon Mustang body a few years ago along with an RT Charger (which I converted a while back), but hadn't got around to this one until I recently found a source of really cheap rolling chassis (Avant Slot 180). I wanted to try and do a couple of quick builds to try them out, so I went hunting through my "to do" box for spare bodies to see if I could find some to fit as is, and found that this was a pretty good fit (along with an resin DMC-12) for the wheelbase, although it was too narrow to fit the wheels inside the body. The rear axle is quite wide and even with grub screw alloy wheels there was only so much leeway, and I've narrowed them as much as I could. I also had to shave down the front stub axle mounts and the wheel stubs to get it looking fairly even with the rear. The chassis is quite rear end heavy so only had to add a little lead over the front axle to get a good balanced car. It came with the standard tinted windows and no driver platform. Fortunately, I was able to extract it without much visible damage, as luckily all the glue was on the middle of the roof. I then cleaned and polished it up and moulded it so I could make a clear copy for this and another Mustangd I was converting for a friend. I also used my own cast copy of the Eldon Charger driver platform (and I am happy to sell copies of both). I think having clear windows and a driver platform really finishes a car off. The body was in good condition, so didn't need a repaint, but was missing front grill assembly and rear bumper, but I was able to mould up and make my own copies from the other Mustang.

I haven't quite finished it off yet. I am working on moulding up a few different dual rear exhausts, one of which should be suitable for this car (and a few others). I also am working on moulding up a generic underbody rear end, using a Scalextric Mustang, so I can hide the chassis which is very visible from the rear due to the low chassis mounts.
